Resumen:
With the countless changes occurred in mental health care over the History, several therapeutical resources have been added to the health care on persons with mental afflictions. Integrative and complementary practices arise standing out on the mental health care, because it generates meaningful results when used. Between those practices, music increasingly has been present in the health care centers, promoting humanization and improving user‟s quality of life. Thus, this article aims to assess the music‟s effects on the professional and user‟s mental health from CAPS I, at Picuí- PB city. It‟s a qualitative, descriptive inquiry accomplished in March 2013 that used semi-structured interviews related to the music‟s effects on mental health, recorded with a electronic device. The research project was sent to “Federal University of Paraíba‟s Ethical and Research Council”, in according to 196/96 resolution of National Health Board requirements. The data analyses used a subject interpretation criteria based in a theoretical frame of reference, as well as the goals. So was possible a better understanding about the subject regarding the main works themes, that are four: “A rhythm on air”, which works music on the CAPSs; “The emotion‟s melody – effects of music on health care”; “I want have a thousand of friends and sing stronger – music building bonds between persons”; “Walking, singing and following the song – reinforcing bounds and recovering self esteem through the music”. Regarding to empirical material, was verified the both users and professionals believe in music as a changing factor on behavior, directly acting on user‟s self esteem and emotions and providing also a humanized care. During the research the need for the intensification of complementary practices turns out to be necessary, because it‟s noticeable on the results that music practice is, undoubtedly, a reference on methodology in caring users with mental disorders, helping directly on social interactions and creating bounds between users and professionals, optimizing the work and taken care.
