Abstract:
Urbanization and socioeconomic growth in developing countries increase the purchasing power of the population and the number of private vehicles in circulation, contributing to the growth in the number of traffic accidents. These accidents are like any unintended event caused by an external force others acting unexpectedly involving one or more vehicles that causes damage to persons, animals or own path. Around the world there are thousands of victims hundreds suffer fatal and serious sequelae and become disabled. Most of these victims are young and therefore, traffic accidents become one important public health problem, since it analyzes the impacts social and economic engaged by them. About half of these accidents ending in deaths involve motorcyclists due to increased vulnerability these individuals in transit. As a result, injuries and sequelae such people are generally more severe. Attests to the importance for the creation of new taken as educational policies and more efficient in relation to prevention traffic accidents. Thus, this research is being developed based on high incidence of traffic accidents involving motorcycles, allowing know, deeply, epidemiological data of the region in which lies the Seridó Paraiba, contributing significantly to the creation of proposals capable of change this situation. Thus the aim of the research was to characterize Motorcycle accident victims rescued before and after the implementation of SAMU, in the municipality of Cuité - PB. The theoretical framework was divided into two phases: scene of traffic accidents: an approach to automotociclismo, and education and Health acting for a sustainable transit. The methodological approach adopted for this research is exploratory and descriptive, to be a quantitative developed with victims of motorcycle accidents since the year 2008 in municipality Cuité - PB, the data were processed by software Excel. Results obtained gather in two stages, the first with the identification of the subject described through tables and the second, with the characterization of the accident exposed by graphs. It was possible to describe the profile of accidents in the municipality and Cuité characterize the lifestyle habits of drivers in traffic this motorcycle locality. Thus, this
research promotes local knowledge, enabling the creation of public policies and effective preventive in order to further improvements in road conditions and traffic reduction morbidity and mortality caused by motorcycle accidents.
