Résumé:
Water isan essential componentfor human survival. Furthermore, it is known
thatthe majority of diseasesthat spreadin developing countriescomes from
thepoor qualityof water. Thus it isnecessary to know thephysical and chemical
characteristicsof the waterfor human consumption.
Thewaterconsideredpotablemust be within thepotability standardsestablished
bydecree No.2914/2011of the Ministryof Health.Thisstudy aimed toevaluate
thephysico-chemical parametersof water from asubterranean wellthe city
ofNewForest-PB, locatedin the CurimatautheWest. Water sampleswere
analyzedat fourdifferent points: a sampleinan underground welland the
otherthree samples ofsupply waterin homesin the city,
allanalyzeswereperformed in triplicate. The results showedan
averagepH=5.82for samples ofwater froman underground wellandtheturbidityof
1.27NTU. Hardness resultsshowed thatthe watercollected from homesare
classed asvery hard water, because thevalues ranged from273.2 to 290.3mg.L-
1of CaCO3. Alkalinity andconductivityare within theestablished
standards,buthigh levels ofchloride276.9mg/LCl-. Thereforewe
observedsignificant differencesbetween thephysicochemical propertiesof
theunderground wellandsamples of water supply.
