Abstract:
We proposed in this work to analyse about structural accessibility provided in two schools of
São João do Rio do Peixe – PB, one of them belonging to the municipal body and other to the
state one. It has been used photographies as data collection to register the spaces of access to
the school, both the internal and external ones. For complementation of analysis we also made
use of interviews with educators of these institution in an attempt to check the perception
them about accessibility. In view of the data presented we observed that the schools are not
yet properly adapted physically to receive the students with special educational needs, due to
the existence of obstacles and barriers, like ramp with wrong slope, lack banisters, rest bar,
tactile floor, among other. The lack of adequate knowledge about the physical accessibility of
the persons who compose the school is an important factor, because it contributes to building
of unsuitable ramps and undue adjustments, that do not contribute in anything for the exercise
of the right to come and go, guaranteed to every Brazilian citizen.
