Résumé:
Gypsum is a material widely used in civil construction, especially in interior finishing, such as wall and ceiling cladding, due to its thermal, acoustic and fire resistance characteristics. Despite the advantages, one of the major disadvantages of plaster is the gripping time, which determines the time the plaster paste can be handled before hardening. Studies indicate that the use of natural additives may influence this property as a retarding additive. The objective of this work was to study the influence of sugarcane juice as a time-delay additive for the construction plaster paste, using the Vicat apparatus, for the ratio’s water/plaster (w/g) 0,4 and 0,5 and additions of 1%, 3% and 5%, based on previous studies. After obtaining the first results, further tests were performed increasing the additive concentrations to 10%, 15%, 30% and 50% in both w/p ratios. Given the results obtained, it was observed that sugarcane juice acts as a retardant additive in the time of the plaster pick up. For both w/p ratios analyzed, it was observed that the additions of 30% and 50% presented the best results.
