Resumo:
The mining sector generates large quantities of waste resulting in a very strong environmental impact. Its reuse in ceramic matrix composites is used as coating for floors having high strength properties due to low porosity adding a structuring polyester resin. In this perspective, this work aimed at the use of waste generated in the industries of exploitation and beneficiation of kaolin, and solid waste from the cutting of ornamental rocks, studied their thermal and
spectroscopic, in view of producing covering plates. The residues were
benefited using process of dry grinding and gauges mill and passed of 0.074 mm sieve (ABNT N° 200), Tests of physical-chemical characterization (particle size analysis, X-ray fluorescence and X-ray diffraction), thermal (differential thermal analysis and thermogravimetry) and technology (water absorption, apparent porosity, bulk density and flexural strength.) The results showed that the composites exhibited water absorption £ 0.5 there is a direct relationship with the porosity, mechanical strength where they presented within the required
standards (ABNT 13816) for coating plates. Variations in composition (resin / residue) had no effect on the thermal behavior, having demonstrated satisfactory properties when compared to the manufactured product. The developed product will contribute to reducing environmental impacts, enabling the reuse of waste used to produce plates for coating.
