Abstract:
The medicine has succeeded for many advances since the last four decades, mainly regarding the development of new technologies, whether applied to the treatment of disease or for the diagnosis of nosological from various specialties of medical areas. In relation to cardiac disease approach, echocardiography, since its inception, the
Ides of 1950, is presented as extremely important tool in clinical diagnosis and patient follow-up. And in particular, the need for the presence of gel so as to achieve echocardiographic images, is very important. Thus, this study aimed to characterize and evaluate the gel used as a means of contact in obtainment of images in echocardiography, given the importance of this material to perform this diagnostic procedure . For this purpose two types of gels were used. The first one is already used appropriately to ultrasound and the other is used for a cosmetic gel application on the scalp. Characterization tests were performed as Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), the Optical Microscopy, the X-ray Diffraction, as well as
evaluating the quality of the images obtained with the use of two gels. According to the results, it was observed that the two materials presented the same chemical and morphological properties, according to the characterization methods used, as well as in the evaluation of echocardiographic images, it was observed that the gels analyzed also presented the same behavior.
