Résumé:
The objective of this study was to identify the pathological manifestations of the Escola Estadual João da Mata, located in Pombal-PB. The school under study is approximately 90 years old, with thick walls (60 cm) made of ordinary solid ceramic bricks and probably covered in clay-based mortar. The development of the study was made through technical visits made in March, April and September. In March all the existing pathologies inside the building were surveyed through photographic record. In April the slopes of the west facade were evidenced and in September measurements of fissures and cracks and lowering of the floor were made, however, many of the fissures and cracks observed in March and April were repaired due to a maintenance, which consisted of recovering parts of the coating with cementitious mortar and paint. During the study it was observed that the school has several pathological problems, probably due to the lack of correct maintenance. The pathologies found were: spots, molds, cracks, efflorescence, among others. In this work we also raised hypotheses about the causes of the pathologies found. It can be concluded that the Escola Estadual João da Mata has no record of periodic maintenance and it is not made taking into account the compatibility between materials, which over the years may have potentiated the incidence of pathologies.
