Resumo:
This work presents an artificial intelligent-based algorithm for the solution of the
reactive power compensation problem. It intends to increase the computational efficiency
of the genetic algorithms to turn them applicable to real electrical distribution systems. The
reactive power compensation problem in a radial distribution system is formulated and
solved by a hybrid algorithm. It uses a microgenetic algorithm in conjunction with fuzzy
logic. The objective function includes economic savings obtained by energy and power
loss reduction and the acquisition and installation costs of fixed and switched capacitors.
The hybrid algorithm determines the capacity, location and control schedule of the
capacitors banks. The results presented in this work are very promising.
