Abstract:
A study comparing an asphalt cement 50/60 (classified by penetration) and polymer
modified binder in properties of Asphalt Concrete (AC) manufactured with calcareous
aggregates is presented. To make this evaluation was done laboratory test of mechanical
behavior of asphalt mixture based on Marshall test, indirect tensile test and dynamic
diametrical compression test, using the same granulometric composition.
The behavior of polymer modified binder was analyzed by conventional characterization
tests as: penetration, flash point, viscosity, tackiness and elastic recovery.
Result obtained indicate that behavior of mixture manufactured with modified
binder was altered coming a better action of resistance properties. However, in the
flexibility analysis of laboratory results didn't present significant variation.
