Abstract:
Two deterministic models to predict flow and erosion in nine
experimental parcels of 100 m, located in Sume Experimental Basin (Brazilian semi-arid
region), were used. The models take into account not only its aplicabilily to the region but
also its facility to obtain the parameters used by them, because it is one of the main
difficuties found by the researchers when they want to apply the several existing models to
this region. The first model is the multiple linear regression, is empirical, well known all
over the world. The second, is the WESP (Watershed Erosion Simulation Problem) model,
is of the fundamental type, it is more complex than the previous and has as frame the
infiltration processes, the flow hydraulic and the mecanism process of erosion and
deposition. Both models simulate the flow and the erosion per event and the results
obtained were considered very good.
