The municipal councils are presented as means of fundamental importance for the strengthening and the exercise of dialogue between society and public administration. Thus, the research has as a problem the following question: How to structure social control through the municipal councils of education, health and social assistance in the municipality of São José do Egito-PE? The present study had as general objective: to analyze the socio-political participation through the municipal councils of Education, Health and Social Assistance as instruments of social control. Considering how to define objectives: contextualize the degree of insertion and viability of socio-political participation under the management management model; describe as practices executed by the municipal councils of education, health and assistance regarding their functions as spaces for public deliberation of São José do Egito-PE; evaluate the participation of civil society in the actions of municipal councils according to the perception of the councilors; verify the effectiveness of management councils not related to the construction of the government agenda and suggest improvements to improve social control in the municipality. For methodological purposes, this study is a case study, has an exploratory-descriptive nature and was conducted using bibliographic research. We conclude that the municipal councils of education, health and social assistance of the municipality of São José do Egito-PE contribute to the expansion of socio-political participation and improvement of social control in the management of the municipality.
