Abstract:
Paleontology is the area responsible for science to unravel the mysteries of the history of Earth by studying fossils. This work was developed in the city of Sousa, recognized for possessing important fossil register, and aims to investigate how the teachers in the school systems of work Sousa issues relating to paleontology, to establish a common thread that integrates the content covered by the science at the Natural Monument Valley of the Dinosaurs. This study is qualitative, made from the distribution of questionnaires in networks of public and private education, and selected teachers who teach the disciplines of science and biology. The questionnaires were distributed in seven city schools, where the teachers answered questions about their education, place and year of completion, work experience, graduate, series that teach and specific questions about the paleontological approach in textbooks and use and importance of the dinosaur park. The results show that the approach of this science in textbooks is superficial, and that in seeking to enrich their classes every faculty research use other sources, such as performing some field courses in natural monument Dinosaur Valley, but there are no educational projects involving the dissemination of the importance of preserving this heritage. The relevance of this research refers to the incentive for the development of educational projects in the valley of the dinosaurs, arousing the student and the general public interest in the preservation of this environment to be of great importance for the region de Sousa, as well as for Brazil.
