Abstract:
The Brazilian education, as well as other aspects of socio-political life, has shown that
complex issues have originated studies in various areas. This paper aims to analyze the
democratic management in schools, from the experience of reshaping and strengthening of the
State School Council School Terezinha Carolino de Souza, located in the Municipality of
Jaçanã / RN. The interest in this topic stemmed from the need to reorganize the school
glancing to his administrative and educational sectors, in seeking alternatives to their
problems administrative, social, educational, political and human rights. This study aims to
look specifically improve the quality of public education in this school unit, with the
performance of the School Board, which is an agency of institutionalized community
participation. The methodology was a case study, considering that only from a thorough view
of the object of study can foster a closer approach of the issues raised. In this methodology
were worked, among other procedures: documentary research, the report of an evaluation
from the discussions of managers and study participants; permeated by constant worry for the
construction of a school more democratic and fair to the actors involved in the educational
process. The information collected in this study indicate that democratic management is
possible when they organize and perform actions such as sensitization campaigns, short
courses, election of the representatives of the School Board, creating channels for
dissemination of decisions of the School Board, and establishment of a monitoring meeting
schedule in order to be promoted discussions and interventions in teaching practices and
school administrative, seeking improvements in the educational institution.
