Resumen:
The disposal of industrial effluents into the environment is a problematic that has attracted the
attention of engineers and researchers. In the petroleum industry, produced water contains oil
in high concentrations, and your disposal causes serious problems to the environment. Several
equipments of water/oil separation have dimensions that unfeasible its use on oil rigs. In these
situations, have been used compact equipments such as two-phase separators and
hydrocyclone. The present work proposes to study a water/oil separation equipment with
operating principle similar to traditional hydrocyclone called cyclonic separator. All
simulations were performed using the commercial package Ansys CFX using the particle
model to describe the two-phase flow water/oil and the RNGk-s turbulence model. Were
evaluated the dynamics of flow, and the influence of feed flow rate and concentration of
mixture on water/oil separation efficiency using the cyclonic separator. The proposed
cyclonic separators tend to concentrate the oil in the central region since the beginning of the
flow. Getting greater separation efficiency, equal to 99.5%, for the case of flow 9 m7h oil
concentration of 5.0 % in the mixture fed.
