Resumo:
This work aimed to study the mass transfer in a tubular electrochemical
reactor of the type PFR (Plug Flow Reactor) Flow-by configuration, using
commercial electrodes formed by perforated plates in stainless steel-316
(control electrode) and plate Extended DSA (Ti|Ruo,3Ti0,702)® (working
electrode). For this was the technique of electrochemical electroredution of
potassium ferricyanide ion in alkaline medium, under diffusional control. The
relationship between the influence of hydrodynamic flow on the mean coefficient
of mass transfer was established from the application of the Buckingham TT
theorem. The empirical model found in this work expressed by the relationship
between the Sherwood number and Reynolds number, was compared with
other models in the literature. The comparative analysis revealed a pattern
similar to that found for an electrochemical reactor of the type filter-press
operating in the laminar, fully developed.
