Resumo:
The present study is entitled “Music as a didactic resource in Geography classes: study of the place”. Geography has been seen by many people as a discipline for memorization, but it is an outdated view, as it proposes to sharpen reflection, to build meaningful knowledge and to train citizens capable of thinking. Music, as a playful element and a type of universal language in order to instigate reflections on the human being, contributes a lot to the achievement of Geography's purposes and the teaching-learning process to be realized. The main objective of this research is to understand the importance of the use of music as a didactic resource in Geography classes and its contribution in the construction of the geographic knowledge of first grade High School students at E.E.E.F.M. Professor Manoel Mangueira Lima School. Among the geographical categories, it was decided to work the place category since it dialogues a lot with the daily life of each one and establishes a great relationship with the songs, since most songs bring in their lyrics a lot of places. The research was based on a qualitative approach and a workshop was done that served as the basis for the subjects that compose the research to answer the questionnaires.
