Resumo:
This study is about the analysis of religious and profane feasts. This theme is not something new, it has always been a subject very studied by human sciences that seek to understand their meanings, from the transformations about religiosity and cultural. Thus, this study had os its object the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. The objective of this work is to identify the dimension of the sacred and the profane in the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, in the city of Pombal-PB. As specific objectives we chose: a- discuss about territory, territoriality and culture from the religiosity; b- understand the city as a space for the organization and production of religious territory; c- identify the spaces of the sacred and the profane in the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. Thus, the proposal is to identify the different modifications that occurred in the sacred and profane feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. And in all patrons parties that happen these modifications. The parties have their different territories, but that coexist in the same simultaneity. The entire literature review was important for the analysis and understanding of the objectives investigated, as well as all the information gathered in the interviews. All categories of analysis, space and territory, were the main elements of the study script methodology. All the results were important with the collaboration of the party members. As we enter the object, through the interviews we identify the strong religious tradition still present in the Church with its adaptations. For example, novenas, processions, which are defined as the use and occupation of spaces. The whole relationship of these spaces and culture has a primordial role, because whatever the element to be studied in cultural geography is the space that will be observed and the spatial perspective is to analyze all the phenomena that occurred. In this way, any believer who, upon entering a church, is pleased to experience something that can be called sacred. Already when entering a bar or other festive environment has the notion that is profane.
