Resumo:
Given the environmental problems currently facing the world, it is essential to understand that environmental education programs are essential tools to promote sustainability, conservation and preservation of the planet. People's lack of awareness of the environment is noted in the school environment as some methods used in schools are not suited to reality. In environmental education there is the perspective of changes that build and improve the concept of environment focused on a healthy and quality life for all involved in this process. The present work analyzed the approach of the theme about environmental education in a collection of textbooks of PNLD 2020 from the 6th to the 9th of the Elementary School adopted in a state public school of the city of São José da Lagoa Tapada / PB, concluding that such work still they do not comply with the legal requirements and principles of environmental education as per the bibliography consulted.
