Resumo:
The present work has as objective studies the normalization of two desalination
systems via reverse osmosis, installed in the Riacho de Santo Antonio and Catingueira,
both in the State of Paraiba, with feed water of 13.665 mg/L and 945 mg/L total of
dissolved solids (TDS), respectively. Starting from the data of the variables of measures of
the systems as; flow, pressure, temperature, conductivity and concentration, making a
series of calculations to observe the peformance of the systems. The evaluate parameters
were: flow of the permeate, net driving pressure (NOP), TDS of the permeate, salt passage
and salt rejection and the mass transfer coefficient (MTC). After the normalization was
accomplished a study of the scalings types that could be happening in the systems. The
result for the system of Catingueira-PB was: decrease of 13% in the flow of the permeate;
increase of 16% in NDP; increase in TDS of 48%; increase of 71% in the salts passage ;
decrease of 30% in MTC and the calculations of scalings prevention indicated a tendency
to the scaling of CaCCb and CaS04. The result for the system of Riacho de Santo Antdnio-
PB was: decrease of 7% in the flow of the permeate; increase of 7% in NDP; increase in
TDS of 34%; increase of 50% in the salts passage; decrease of 11% in MTC and the
calculations of scalings prevention indicated a tendency to the scaling of CaCO;*.
