Resumen:
The purpose of the research for this dissertation is to make a study that allows the
development of a system to monitor the respiratory frequency and detection of the
obstructive apnea of the sleep. The lack of respiratory movements, which is the
apnea, characterizes an interruption in the flow of air that goes to the lungs, this
result in a diminution in the amount of oxygen in the blood, causing serious and
irreversible problems with severe consequences without the possibility of
treatment, and also can leave the patient to its obit. There are many ways to
accomplish the measure of the respiratory flow, these are divided in direct and
indirect methods. Among these, it was chosen the indirect method, the technique
of the thoracic impedance to accomplish these objectives. This method was
chosen by possibility of utilize the same electrodes to obtain also the signal of
ECG (Electrocardiogram). The practical performance of the circuit was tested in
patients with central apnea, tends a good performance.
