Abstract:
This work presents the geologic description and geotechnical investigations of soil at
site of driven down concrete pre-cast piles. It describes the piles driving down and estimate
the ultimate load through out semi-empirical methods, and dynamic formulas comparing them
to values obtained from interpretation of slow load bearing tests. It also shows in appendix, an
application of the mathematical model of Massad (1993).
The piles were pushed down, by hammering, on the foundations of a construction at
municipality of Nobres, MT. The local soil is formed by sand layers, with different
percentages of fines.
The comparison of the results, leads to conclude that the value of ultimate load,
measured throughout load bearing tests, agrees with that estimated by semi-empirical
methods, and the that application of dynamic formulas can be done with adjustment on safety
factors.
