Resumen:
This research analyzes water sustainability of a water basin, through the proposition of
indicators and its respective indexes, as support to water resources management. Three classes
of indicators are studied: Indicator of Water Potentiality, Availability and Demands; Indicator
of Acting of the System of Water Resources Management and Indicator of Efficiency and Use
of the Water. A methodology that analyzes the basin through the consideration of different
planning levels (basin, dam, sub-basins and sub-basins and municipal districts) are proposed.
Partial scales are used to classify the indexes and the global is used for the indicators These
are scales composed for five sustentabilidade degrees: very high, high, average, low and very
low. The results show that the basin is considered with a low water sustainability, needing the
water resources management urgently to be implanted. The study shows that different results
can be obtained when it drifts at the level of the great basin in comparison with the other
levels (dam, sub-basins, municipal districts). The analyses based on the results allows to
propose administration actions for the basin making possible to identify the most sustainable
situations in what it refers to the studied indicators.
