Resumo:
This work describes a software package that simulates the air interface standard of
the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM). The aim of the work is to have
a programming tool which supports the study and research on GSM. The software
package generates data blocks for transmission, in the GSM format, simulates the
transmission channel and the data reception. It also computes the data error rates.
Most blocks involved with the voice transmission subsystem are simulated, including
the channel coding, interleaving, multiplexing and modulation blocks. In order to test
the platform operation, several channel impairments are available, including additive
white Gaussian noise, Rayleigh fading and Doppler effect. The system evaluation was
performed using the Monte-Carlo method. Some obtained results are compared with
results found in the literature.
