Resumen:
The sediments forming the bed of natural courses consist of various sizes shapes
and density. These differences affect significantly the behaviour of the- sediment bed as a
whole. Various studies have been conducted in the past to evaluate the behaviour of the
sediment mixtures on the resulting bed forms, critical tractive force and the rate of sediment
transport.. Utilizing a computerized closed circuit channel capable of recirculating the
sediment water mixture an investigation was carried out to determine the influnce of the
grain size distribution of the sediments over the channel resistence when the sediments are
bimodal in nature. The results show that there is notable difference between the behaviour
of unimodal and bimodal sediments.
