This research is about the case of “Girl’s Cross” in Pombal-PB as a social event of strong representation in the individual’s imagination and history of the town even nowadays. It is a fact that today many groups of faithful from Pombal and other places ritually pay visits to the monument, praying and fulfilling vows, lighting candles and placing objects there. Our focus will be to understand what keeps this pilgrimage alive today from the perspective of the belief of men and women that make up and continue the ritual up to nowadays, even because the “Girl’s Cross” has been abandoned. Our methodology to decipher this universe will draw on
theoretical supports of articles, dissertations, and books, and on the other hand we will deal with
the documentation that we will produce from the perspective of oral history through interviews to help us understand the main historical aspects that made the “Girl’s Cross” of Pombal-PB, a religious sightseeing for the town.
