Abstract:
The present work ―invitation to meet Maysa: the feminine in the golden years‖ seeks to think from the songs of singer Maysa how the society that went through several changes affected its construction, showing how this context was represented by her in her songs. Our contextualization and problematization start from readings such as Ângela de Castro Gomes (2002) and Marcia Barros Valdívia (2008). We will also think about gender relations and the place of the feminine in the period. In addition to reflecting the singer marriage’s, important for being linked to her career, as this was the inspiration of seven of eight compositions that are part of her album analyzed here "Convite para ouvir Maysa" (1956), so we use important authors in women's history studies such as Mary Del Priore (2006) and Carla Pinsky (2004). Finally we will analyze the relationship of the singer with the media and the public, thinking about the two moments of Maysa's career, before and after the quarrel and how this event affected this relationship. In this research we use Music as the source, since the analysis comes from the first album of the singer and her two biggest hits of the career ―Ouça‖ (1957) and ―Meu mundo caiu‖ (1958).
