Abstract:
The use of environmentally and socially appropriate materials for solving societal problems is imperative in present times. Mining and the dairy industry have relevant environmental liabilities, so the use of one tailings tailings for the other's tailings is fully in line with green ethics. From this point of view, this work aims to study the economic and environmental viability of using kaolin extraction tailings as Cynamon anaerobic filter substrates, replacing the use of gravel n. 4, applied to the treatment of dairy effluents. For this, among other procedures, was constructed Cynamon filters with PVC pipes with gravel n.4 and verified its efficiency in dairy effluents and built specimens with kaolin and verified its properties, among them its resistance to attacks. chemical with sulfuric acid, simulating real conditions. Finally, it was possible to conclude that both Cynamon filters and gravel replacement by kaolin-agglomerate are viable for the treatment of dairy agroindustrial effluents.
