Resumo:
This dissertation deals with optimal allocation of fixed and switched
capacitors in primary radial feeders. That is done through a Genetic Algorithm which maximizes the economy accomplished with losses reduction in contrast with the acquisition and installation costs of those equipments. The capacitor sizes and their locations are taken as discreet variables. Load flow calculation is made by using the Power
Summation Method. The load is represented by constant power model. Load curves are worked in order to define specific levels for energy losses calculations. A well-known system in literature is used to validate the implemented algorithm. In addition, a local distribution system is analyzed.
