Abstract:
The Caatinga biome is found only in Brazil and has been named as one of the least known, most complex and vulnerable. The families Leguminosae, Euphorbiaceae, and Cactaceae Bignoniaceae stand out because they represent most of the floristic diversity of the biome. The main objective of this study was to survey cactus species occurring in Horto Florestal Olho D’Água da Bica spout in the town of Cuité-PB, descriptions, comments and data on the geographic distribution of the species. The study area is a perennial spring which has a large representation of the regional flora. Were collected in pre-existing trails in September 2010 to October 2011. Since herb treatment to the inclusion of material in the herbarium of CES / UFCG, followed by the usual methodology, used in floristic work. We visited the herbaria Jaime Coelho de Morais (EAN) and Lauro Pires Xavier (JPB) that contributed to the identification of species. As a result of this work was found in the study area the occurrence of the following species: Cereus jamacaru DC., Melocactus zehntneri (Britton & Rose) Luetzelb., Opuntia dillenii (Ker Gawl.) Haw., Pilosocereus pachycladus F. Ritter and Tacinga inamoena (Britton & Rose) N. P. Taylor & Stuppy.
