Introduction: It is known that the female population is slightly larger in number than the male and these also dominate in numbers as users in the SUS. They go through several phases during the life cycle, which highlights the climacteric, because this is the margin in assistance, showing the failure in the applicability of public policies in relation to this demand. Objective: To analyze the knowledge and experiences of women around the climacteric. Method: This is a research characterized as an integrative literature review. The present work went through fundamental steps for its construction, the first came from the interest in the theme, then the theme and the guiding question were delimited: What knowledge do women have about the climacteric and their experiences during this period? The search for articles was performed in the databases SCIELO, VHL, BDTD, LILACS and BDENF. Final Considerations: The results that expressed the knowledge and experience of women around the climacteric. It has been identified that women know little about climacteric, others do not know what the term means and even the phase. Many suffer from silence, others seek to use home alternatives and others seek health services to seek information and relieve existing symptoms. It also provided identification of how health care behaves during this phase of a woman's life and how they deal with it. The findings propose that the theme has more prominence and continuity in the practical and theoretical fields, through health professionals, allied to the three spheres of public power that have the duty to monitor and comply with existing policies, and the creation of effective programs to assist them. these women properly.
