Résumé:
Water for human consumption should be adequate for mamtaining health and for that, not only treatment but also the reservation of water must be performed properly. Water treatment in itself does not guarantee the maintenance of the condition of drinking, since water quality can deteriorate between the processing, distribution, and consumption reservation. During the period from April to November 2010 samples of water from public supply systems (ARAP) and samples from the upper reservoir (ARPS) of seven schools from the city of Campina Grande were analyzed in order to verify the effect of reservation on the degradation of water quality of supply to these units and the degree of deterioration can lead to violations found in relation to the potability standards established by Ordinance of the Ministry of Health 518/2004. The results showed that though there have been violations of standards, especially of free residual chlorine, the quality of the ARAP is better than the ARPS, which was more degraded because often, the actions of maintenance and cleaning are neglected making the reservoirs possible sources of waterborne diseases.
