Resumo:
Even with the intense propagation of the need for humanization in the care provided to women during the pregnancy-puerperal cycle, there is still the persistence of the idea of power and domination by the professional in front of the user, which ends up providing inhumane actions and conduct that violate women's rights and result in obstetric violence, making the pregnancy and the birth traumatic experiences. This study aimed to analyze the perception of primiparous women about obstetric violence. This is a field study, with an exploratory feature, descriptive and qualitative approach. It was carried out in May, June and July, at the homes of the participants registered in the Family Health Strategies in the city of Sousa, PB. The sample obtained and presented in the study consisted of 11 primiparous. Data were collected through a semi-structured interview, through a script prepared by the researchers, with objective and subjective questions, which were asked by the participating researcher, using a portable recorder. The objective questions were organized and presented in tables, using simple descriptive statistics. The subjective answers were submitted to the thematic content analysis. The research keeped respecting the ethical and legal aspects presented in Resolution Nº 466/2012. According to the speech of the primiparous, obstetric violence corresponds to a disrespect to the decision of women as well as a verbal violence situation. Among the situations of obstetric violence were identified pain during touch exams, as well as excessive exams, Kristeller maneuver performance, episiotomy, water break, prohibition of companion and psychological pressure and as a consequence of this violence, delay in having a next child, due to still being damaged with birth and the preference for cesarean section. This study can contribute to the professionals who are in charge of the health services that follow women in the pregnancy-puerperal cycle to become more sensitive and develop humanized care, as the practice of obstetric violence is increasingly common, being part of the care provided by many professionals. In addition, it is intended to put obstetric violence in discussion so that these professionals provide to women the knowledge about the subject, for the right that they have to empower themselves about the subject and not be future victims of this grievance.
