Résumé:
The city Cuité is supplied by water from dam Boqueirão do Cais, however the water supplied to population characteristics has shown change color (yellow) and high concentration of salts. The present study was investigated the physicochemical properties (pH, turbidity, conductivity, chloride and water hardness) of water supply in the city of Cuité-PB. The sampling procedure involved samples in triplicate from different parts of the city (north, south and parts of the University) and samples of households (point 01, 02, 03 and 04) and from other CAGEPA (05 points, 06 and 07) totaling 21 samples. The results indicated an average pH = 7.8 to 7.9 and 1.25 to 2.74 NTU for turbidity. The average values presented in the range of conductivity from 560 to 780 μS.cm-1 with the similarity between samples collected from the same sampling point. Hardness values ranged from 117.10 to 126.13 mg/L CaCO3 and the values of chlorides from 3.3 to 4.5 mg Cl / L. The method of adsorption chromatography with ion exchange resin-mixed was used to decrease the conductivity, hardness and chloride content of water. The results were significant.
