In this work, grafting copolymers of poly (methyl methacrylate) and starch were synthesized, using azobis-iso-butyronitrile (AZDN) as a starter. The influence of corn starch and AZDN concentrations on conversion and grafting percentages, carried out in bulk and without stirring, was investigated after 4 hours of reaction at 70ºC. The results indicate that greater amounts of substrate cause a small decrease in conversion and percentage of grafting and addition, and a slight increase in grafting efficiency and molecular weight of the produced homopolymers, while higher concentrations of beginner cause a decrease in the parameters of grafting and molecular weight of the homopolymers obtained.
