Resumen:
Family farming is of significant value in developing countries such as Brazil, where a considerable part of the income of rural people comes from activities carried out in their own communities. In the Brazilian semi-arid region, as in the case of several productive activities that are carried out in the highland of Paraíba, it is necessary to emphasize the importance of the exploitation of crops that enable the income of communities affected by seasonal oscillations to be complemented. which is submitted to the Brazilian northeast. In this sense, we can list the exploitation of meliponiculture that can bring to the communities of the highland of Paraíba the possibility of extraction of propolis, honey, royal jelly, pollination of other species that are nearby, among other advantages, such as food and also the economic one. This work has as objective to evaluate the potential and the exploration aspects of stingless bee honey (Melipona subnitida) in Santa Helena - PB. The methodology used is characterized as qualitative research, seeking to improve the process of interpretation of the studied phenomenon, focusing on the subjective character of the researched object, using a type of linguistic-semiotic research method. The results of the present work converge to the statement that the exploitation of jandaíra honey (Melipona subnitida) is viable due to the diagnosis made in two important rural areas of the municipality, the communities of Bom Lugar and Cajueiro. Thus, it was verified that the municipality of Santa Helena - PB has potential for the production of honey of jandaíra bee (Melipona subnitida), since the area of the municipality offers vegetation, climate and other characteristics favorable to the management and exploitation of this honey. bee in high demand and commercial value.
