Resumo:
This work is part of the research field Education of the State, State and Society of the Degree in Field Education, and is linked to the Center for Research and Extension in Field Education, Teacher Training and Pedagogical Practices, Development Center Sustainable Semiarid, Federal University of Campina Grande, aimed to identify how school management is organized in the municipal public school by analyzing the spaces and tools for participation of the school community in the administrative and pedagogical process of the institution. Our overall objective was: Understand how management is organized in a public school from the perspective of school participation and democratization. Specifically, we have as objectives: To characterize the school management process of the school unit; identify spaces and strategies for participation of the school community; and Identify the perception that the school community has about the school management process. Our assumption was that there is a difficulty in experiencing participatory practices in school, which enable the involvement of teachers, students and family in school management. The deepening of this problem and a critical approach to it occurred from the analytical categories of School Management (LIBANEO, 2001; LUCK, 2007) Democratic Management (PARO, 2002) and Rural Education (BRAZIL, 1996). The methodological approach of participatory research is that it requires the active participation of the researcher with the members of the community being researched, and we use documentary analysis, participant observation and the questionnaire as research instruments. The research field was an elementary school unit in the city of Sumé, and the research subjects were managers, teachers, students and family. As a result, research shows that there are some levels of participation, including some spaces for participation, but there is no depth in school about what it would really mean to have participatory democratic management in the sense that teachers, parents and students should have different spaces. not only in terms of administrative management, but also in the pedagogical dimension of the school. Therefore, the study shows the need to think about some strategies permanently and systematically, to build this perspective in school.
