Resumo:
Although living in the midst of globalization and embracing technological innovation, many executives are plagued with an erroneous thought: they believe that emerging technologies are to be adopted only when they mature, and that one can wait until then before adopting them. It is known that organization success is based on various different factors and the adoption of new technologies is only one of them. Nevertheless, we commonly hear stories about Information Technology (IT) affecting products and services, redefining businesses and markets, stealing clients and suppliers, leveraging some
organizations while closing others. For this reason it is useful to have a methodology to assess the impacts of IT in organizations; this process must be clear enough that the organizations may pro-actively identify which emerging technologies can affect them. The main goal of this document is to evaluate, elucidate Emerging Information Technologies and to awaken the organizations to a sense of the importance of Assessing the Impact of Emerging Information Technologies; furthermore we introduce a Process to perform this Assessment and suggest a Model to implement it. The final result is presented in the form of a didactic book.
