Resumo:
In the Caatinga Biome,in the northeast of Brazil, there are several species Pilosocereus catingicola subsp. salvadorensis (Werderm.) Zappi popularly known ‘facheiro’. It is an important natural resource used for various purposes. Understanding germination and developmental processes in cactaceae against abiotic factors are essential today, as they help the to understand their morphology and physiology, and contributing to conservation and preservation in the arid and semi-arid environments. The present work aimed to evaluate the germination and development response of P. catingicola subsp. salvadorensis submitted to diferentes incidence factors of fultraviolet light (UV-A), temeprature and salinity. The germination parameters used were: (FGC), (MGT), (G%), (GSI) and (E). To verify the development of plant were evaluated: fresh biomass, total cladode length and concentration photosynthetic pigments (chlorophyll-a and b, total and totals carotenoids). The results presented showed a high germination in the cactus seeds, but desicronized in environments with UV-A light and temperatures of 25 and 30 ºC. UV-A radiation showed abnormal performance in the production photosynthetic development of the species. Salinity did not interfere with the germination process.
