Resumo:
Prostitution is one of the business activities that has existed since antiquity, becoming the focus of many myths and stories. Several factors result in the choice of sex work, especially psychological, low education, difficulty entering the labor market, the socioeconomic factor related to separated women and housewives, who have had children without a stable partner or without economic support. , or even those that require income to fund university courses. In Brazil, as a result of social stigma, health researchers and public agencies have paid little attention to the problems inherent in PH. Thus, there are few studies on prostitution and its impact on women's lives. The study aimed to evaluate the impacts on the social and family context of female sex workers in Cajazeiras - PB. This is a field study, exploratory, descriptive and qualitative approach. The sample consisted of 8 PS who met the established selection criteria, where the participants were approached at their workplace. Data collection was performed by applying a semi-structured form. It is noteworthy that all stages of the study faithfully followed Resolution 466/12 of the National Health Council. Subjective data were fully transcribed and later analyzed with the aid of IRAMUTEQ software. The information was also grouped into categories for analysis using the method proposed by Laurence Bardin. Through the study it was possible to identify that money is the easiest of the profession and the main motivator of the choice of the profession, being the relationship with the client and the violence pointed as the main difficulties found. It is suggested the development of new studies that address the theme, given the scarcity of research, especially for the importance of information on the lives of these women for the development of actions, programs and projects focused on the peculiarities found in the profession.
