Health education actions in schools are important strategies for the dissemination of knowledge, providing a process for training students to improve their quality of life and health. Thus, it is necessary to carry out educational actions that aim to guide and instruct children and adolescents about the basics of first aid, making them able to prevent and help in the various conditions that put their lives at risk. This study aimed to provide students with knowledge about first aid notions through educational intervention in health. This is an exploratory, descriptive field study with a quantitative approach, mediated by the action research methodology. The study was conducted at a school in the municipality of Igaracy-Pb, and was attended by 69 high school students. To collect situational diagnosis data, a questionnaire was applied to identify the weaknesses in the students' knowledge about the first aid notions, after which the educational intervention was implemented regarding the diagnosis, and finally, a second questionnaire was used. to evaluate the knowledge acquired from the action performed as well as the opinion of the students about the intervention. The collected data were tabulated in Microsoft Excel 2016 spreadsheets, using simple descriptive statistics, presented through tables and graphs, and discussed from the theoretical basis on the subject. The study in its first stage identified difficulties in students' knowledge of first aid as well as the lack of security to act in emergency situations, although most have already experienced some kind of situation that needed immediate help. From the situational diagnosis made and implementation of the educational intervention it was possible to change the reality found, that is, the knowledge about the theme presented very positive results, with the average of hits above 80%, which made the students more confident to intervene. if they were faced with an emergency situation. It is extremely important to prepare the lay population for urgent and emergency situations in order to reduce the morbidity and mortality rate due to external causes. Therefore, the development of new studies that address the theme is suggested, considering its importance and its relevance to the personal formation of individuals. Therefore, knowing the basics of first aid can help save a life, as the lay population is the first to witness accidents and other types of injuries.
