Using the competency - based people management model approach, this paper presents a research that has as its general objective to capture the perception of the technical - administrative employees in education (TAE), housed at the Semiarid Sustainable Development Center (CDSA) campus of city of Sumé –PB of the Federal University of Campina Grande (UFCG), on the degree of adequacy between the training courses offered by the University and the skills required to perform the duties required by their positions. For this, structured questionnaires were used in order to capture the satisfaction of TAE's servers about the Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes developed in the courses and training of staff development and qualification, and collected data in a sample obtained by the answers of 25 servers, the equivalent to 58% of total campus servers. The mode of frequency of the answers of each section of the questionnaire represented by the characteristics of Competences (Knowledge, Attitudes Skills), as well as the number of courses participation, the access to the course information for the determined positions, and the space were calculated. to suggest new courses to be taken, and finally the degree of adequacy between the competencies (CHA) and the courses taken, which resulted in a “Moderate” adequacy. At the end, the work limitations and suggestions for further research are pointed out.
