Résumé:
Pollution of aquatic ecosystems is continually increasing rapidly on a global scale. This
process is very worrying, especially in areas that suffer from the scarcity of this resource due
to climatic factors. Thus, the present work aims to analyze the environmental impacts that
affect the water reservoirs of the city of Monte Horebe, Paraíba. For the procedure of this
study, we used the descriptive mode with qualitative approach through systematic
observation. Data analysis was done deductively. The research pointed as negative impacts
the removal of riparian forest, the lack of basic sanitation, the dumping of garbage, the
practice of livestock, pig farming and agriculture developed near the reservoirs. It is
concluded that the identified impacts are related to urban sprawl, organic matter production,
solid and sanitary waste, poor land use in conjunction with inadequate resource management.
In addition, it is understood the need for investments in public policies for preservation and
regulation of city reservoirs, as well as encouraging environmental education.
