Abstract:
This work presents a comparative study between the Pressiometric Test, with a paving pressiometer (Briaud, 1979), model 32-35, Dynamic Penetration Test (SPT) and Load Test on Plates was Clay Soils, with respect to
study of the carrying capacity of surface foundations. This work aims to verify the possibility of using the BRIAUD pressiometer for calculating foundations using methodologies developed for foundation pressiometers (MENARD). The theoretical procedures for interpreting the tests are initially presented, as well as the description of the equipment used and the procedures for tests.
For this work, a total of 54 pressiometric tests, 11 load tests and 11 penetration tests were performed. With the pressiometric results, the
load capacity for supposed circular shoes, using the three known methodologies: the MENARD method; the Baguelin, Jézéquel and Shields method and the Bustamante and Gianselli method. Finally, the load capacities obtained using a pressure gauge were compared with the results obtained for load tests and penetration tests. Some correlations are also presented between the pressiometric parameters (limit pressure and pressiometric module) and the number of strokes of the SPT.
