Resumo:
For economic e safe design of vertical silos, factors such as flow and loads conditions must be carefully analyzed. The aim of this research were to measure and analyze the friction forces in cylindrical silo wall with flat bottom. For friction load measurement two set of three load cells and a data logger were used. The silo was centric and eccentric filled with dry sand to two different Ho/Dc rations (0,8 e 1,6) and was unloaded either centrically or at six different eccentric locations through circular orifices with a diameter of 80 mm. The results showed mat the model of the cylindrical silo can be used to evaluate the friction forces in silo walls and a regular friction load distribution occurred when the silo was emptied either 50-50% or 75-75% discharge conditions. However, these
discharge conditions produced high values of friction force in silo walls.
