Abstract:
The objective of this work is to investigate the potential of a Rainwater Capture System to promote the continued development of the ecological site of the State Technical School Professora Célia Siqueira, located in the Pernambuco city of São José do Egito. The study was conducted with rainfall data from 1915 to 2018, from the city of São José do Egito-PE, provided by SUDENE (Superintendence of Northeast Development). Statistical methods such as mean, standard deviation, percentiles and median were applied. The analysis highlighted the annual average of 511.5mm of rain for the city, the annual classification corresponds to 36% of the Very Dry (VD) and Dry (D), Rainy (R) and Very Rainy (VR) years and 29% classified Normal years (N). In the statistical analysis of the monthly distribution, the months from February to May is the wettest four months, while the months from August to November is the driest quarter-quarter. The reservoir was also evaluated using the Rippl and Azevedo Neto method, proposed by NBR 15527/2007, which deals with rainwater utilization. The Rippl method indicated a reservoir of 3,1m3 to meet the demand of the organic vegetable garden of the four beds and 38,2m3 for the future demand of the eighteen construction sites. Azevedo Neto method considered a reservoir of 21.73m3. This use of rainwater for irrigation of vegetable gardens will imply the complete reduction of the demand for drinking water of the public supply system. On the other hand, the savings of drinking water generated by the collection for the consumption of school water (in the sanitary basins, bathroom sinks, floor cleaning and irrigation) reaches values much higher than 50%, which indicates the feasibility of the application of the system.
