Abstract:
The melon (Cucumis meio L.) is an important species of the family Cucurbitaceae, being a great economical expression fruit, cultivated in several áreas of the world due its adaptatlon to severas sons and climate. The present work has as objective evaluates the growth phases and maturation of six lineages and one cultivate commercial of Yellow melon, representing the first stage for the establishment of maturity indexes used as criteria for crop. They were appraised in this work six lineages of Yellow melon (CNPH 131, CNPH 132, CNPH 133, CNPH 134, CNPH 135, CNPH 136) and one cultivate commercial Eldorado 300. The plants were selected and marked for each cultivate, starting from the flower opening (antese). Growth evaluations were accomplished in regular periods to that the fruits reached the complete maturation (physiologic maturation). After the evaluation in the field of
the fruits growth, its took peace the crop. The fruits crop was accomplished being considered three maturation stadiums for the seven Yellow melon cultivate. lts took place physical and physiochemical evaluations. The random was entirely casualty, in
factorial outline 7 x 5 for the growth evaluation in the field and 7 x 3, with three repetitions, for maturation evaluation. In agreement with the results, it was observed that the Yellow melon presents a curve of growth simple sigmoid. A big influences of the maturation stadiums was verified in function of the cultivates appraised. This way, the appraised maturation stadiums influenced in the quality of the fruits for the seven
cultivate appraised, mainly for the content of SS and AT.
