Resumo:
The present monograph "Marica Macêdo: the female protagonism in the city of Aurora -
CE" discusses the story of Maria da Soledade Landim, Marica Macêdo female
protagonist in the inner city of Ceará, Aurora from the perspective of the memories
circulating about her in the works The Strain of Santa Teresa, Empire of Bacamarte and
Marica Macêdo: the brave country girl Auroran. These act as main trainers of the
representations built here about Marica Macêdo, highlighting the female protagonism
exercised by her. This is a study that is situated in the writing of the History of Women
where we seek to present them as acting social subjects, so we take Marica Macêdo as a
representative model of this “being a woman” that we intend to analyze. The temporal
space in which the analysis proposed here is comprised from 1908 to 1924, and it is
important to mention that besides being the early years of the twentieth century, which
is full of novelties such as the History of Women itself as a historiographic field, they
are also early years of the republican regime as a form of government in Brazil, where
coronelistic politics is the main form of power
