Abstract:
This study aimed to evaluate the behavior of different genotypes of
watermelon as to the productive and qualitative aspects. in a town of São Bento. The study was conducted at form Taquarituba in the town of São Bento. The treatments evaluated were four genotypes uncommercials Tl= BGCIA 863, T2= BGCIA 864, T3= BGCIA 865. T4= BGCIA 866 and two comerciais T5= Crimson Sweet e T6- Crimson Select of watermelon. The experimental delineation used was made on
blocks at random. The experient was made on a área of 576 m: with 192 plants. Each has the dimension 4 X 6 m, totalizing 24 square meter each parcel, existing two lhes, each, with eight plants. The arranging of spaces used was 3,0 meters between the lhes and 1 .0 between plants. Was utilized 4 principal planta of each parcel to the collect data: medium weight of fruits (MWF), total production (TP), uncommercial
production (PU), longitudinal diameter (DL), transversal diameter (DT), index of shape of fruit (ISF), thickness of the shell of the watermelon (TSW), amount of soluble solids (ASS), total acidity of watermelon (TAW). There was a significant effect on the variables average fruit weight (AFW), Total production (TP). commercial production (CP), thickness of the watermelon shell (TSW), longitudinal diameter (LD),
transversal diameter (TD), index of the chape of fruit, BGCIA 863 and 864 showed the biggest average weight of the fruit (8.22 Kg), total production (27,4 t ha-'). thickness of the watermelon shel1 (1 .88 cm) and amount of soluble solids (l0.23 %) The commercial plant Crinsom Select was more than Crinson Sweet on Middle weight of Fruit and commercial production. The genotypes of yellow flesh was presented below the red flesh of most of the variables. the genotypes BGCIA 863
and BGCIA 864 showed fruitful characteristics and with satisfactory quality of fruits to region of São Bento, Paraíba.
