Resumen:
This study aims to understand the photographic culture in Felizardo District, Ipaumirim, Ceará,
Brazil, between 1930-2000, discussing the relation between history and photography, seeking
to understand photography inserted in a network of individual and social meanings. The study
is based on the understanding that photography is a historical source, being valuable to the
historian because it is a social and cultural product and, therefore, contains social and cultural
meanings in the individual and collective spheres. To analyze photography in its cultural and
subjective constructions in Felizardo District (1930-2000), this study is based on perspectives
such as those of Kossoy (2001), Canabarro (2005), Turazzi (1998) among others relevant
researchers in the historiographic field. From a methodological point of view, it became
important to use Oral History from a set of interviews with residents of the district.
